This morning I was driving to my office with the radio off, which is the perfect recipe for my mind to just wander all over the place. I've had a lot on my mind lately between work/ministry, home, family, etc. etc. etc., and this morning I was going through a lot of things in my head.
For years I've tried to make my prayer life less of a "set-aside-time" exercise and more of a "practice-the-presence-all-the-time" pursuit. As a result, I find myself in times like this morning thinking and praying, praying and thinking, and inviting God into my thoughts like you would invite a dear friend into a conversation.
And as I was thinking and praying, praying and thinking, I felt an old familiar question arise: Does God really care about all of this? Does He want to hear about my to-do lists and tax questions and my son's care schedule and the conversation I had with my wife before breakfast and work-pressure and responsibilities and diet and exercise and on and on and on? Does He really care? Is He really with me, even in the seemingly mundane?
Yes.
Genesis 26:24
“Do not be afraid, for I am with you and will bless you.”
Genesis 28:15
"What’s more, I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go.”
Isaiah 41:10
"Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand."
Isaiah 43:5
“Do not be afraid, for I am with you.”
Jeremiah 1:19
“I am with you, and I will take care of you. I, the Lord, have spoken!”
Jeremiah 30:11
“For I am with you and will save you,” says the Lord.
Haggai 1:13
“I am with you", says the Lord!
Matthew 28:20
“Be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Acts 18:10
“I am with you.”
Our God is ever-present, always with us - what an amazing promise from His Word! I pray today that you feel the peace that this truth brings, and that you will take a moment, even if it is in your coming or your going, to rest in the presence of the One who says "I am with you."
